However it is very important to keep this in mind that you should never mix two different types of engine oil at the same time even if your engine has been designed for both. If you do decide to change the type of engine oil that you are currently using in your vehicle's engine, there is a set procedure that you have to follow. Take your car to the garage and get them to fully drain your vehicle of the current engine oil in your engine. Remove the oil filter and replace it with a brand new one. Once having done so, you should only then fill up your engine with a new type of engine oil.
Seeing that you will be required to check your car's engine oil on a regular basis, there are chances there the engine oil may fall beneath the level that it should be. You can easily check the vehicles engine oil using the nozzle that is found under the hood on top of the car's engine. Simply pull out the stick and look to see where the engine oil is marked. When checking the engine oil if your vehicle it is important to make sure that the car has not been driven for the past five hours. If you have driven the vehicle you have to make sure that it cools down before you take a reading.
For this reason it is advised that you wait till the next day and check your vehicle's engine oil the following day before you start your car. When you pull out the nozzle the first time round, use a tissue to wipe all the oil off the stick. Dip the stick, using the nozzle, back into the vehicle's engine and then take a reading of where the point is. If you find that your car engine's oil is slightly lower than it should be, it is recommended that you top it up using the given area on the engine. Make sure you do not put too much in as this could end up damaging your engine.
You can easily find out which engine oil that is right for your vehicle. Most mechanics will know which engine oil is made for which car.
